How do I schedule a doctor’s appointment online?
Request a visit on the practice’s booking page at any hour; the practice confirms the request afterward.
Booking as a client
Making an appointment online with a doctor or a medical practice means choosing the type of visit, the doctor and an open time on the practice’s own booking page, with no waiting on the phone. The request is pending until the practice confirms it, so it helps to know how that works.
Go to the practice’s booking page, which is usually linked from its website or shared by the practice in a message. You’ll see the practice’s name and a list of services, each with a duration and, if the practice has set one, a price. Choose the type of visit (new patient, follow-up and so on).
Pick a doctor or “Anyone available”, if the practice offers it. Open times follow each doctor’s schedule and the practice’s notice rules, so you’ll only see times that can be booked. Select the day and time that work for you.
Enter your name, an email address if you like and an optional note. Keep the note short and practical, and leave out sensitive health details. The booking form has no field for an ID or insurance number, so the practice will ask for those separately. When you send the request, the time is held with the status “pending”.
The practice’s team confirms or rejects the request in their panel, and nothing is sent to you automatically: 4appointments sends clients no emails or reminders. Save the cancel or reschedule link on the final screen, because it isn’t emailed to you. A pending request that nobody handles is canceled automatically about an hour after the requested time, without notice.
What to remember
- ✓The booking page is open day and night, but the practice’s team confirms each request
- ✓You choose the visit type, the doctor and the time yourself
- ✓The cancel or reschedule link is shown on the final screen only, so save it
Common questions
Is it possible to book an urgent appointment online?+
It depends on the practice. The page offers only the open times the practice has made available, and a request stays pending until someone confirms it. For anything urgent, phone the practice.
Will I be reminded before the visit?+
Not by 4appointments, which sends no messages to clients. Note the date and time yourself, and ask the practice whether it contacts patients ahead of visits.
