Booking a doctor’s appointment online, made simple
Request your consultation on the practice’s booking page whenever suits you; the practice confirms the request afterwards.
Booking for clients
Online booking with a doctor or clinic takes the phone out of the first step. You pick the type of visit, the doctor and a free time on the practice’s booking page, and the request stays pending until the practice confirms it.
Open the practice’s booking link, which it may publish on its website or send you in a message. You will see the practice’s name and a list of services, each with a duration and, if the practice has set one, a price. Choose the kind of visit you need, such as a first consultation or a follow-up, then your usual doctor or the option “Any available person”, if the practice offers it.
The calendar follows each doctor’s own schedule and the practice’s notice rules, so only bookable times are shown. Select a date and time, then add your name, an email address if you wish and a short note. Keep the note practical and avoid writing sensitive health details in it.
When you send the request, the time is held for you with the status “pending”. The practice’s team confirms or rejects it in their panel, and neither action sends you anything automatically, so expect confirmation by phone or message and ask the practice how it will reach you.
The final screen shows a link to cancel or reschedule. Save it, because it is not emailed, and use it if you no longer need the slot so that another patient can have it. 4appointments sends patients no reminders, so note the date and time yourself. A pending request that nobody handles is cancelled about an hour after the requested time, without notice.
Points to remember
- ✓The booking page is open round the clock, but confirmation is done by the practice’s team
- ✓You choose the service, the doctor and the time yourself, with no account needed
- ✓The cancel or reschedule link is shown on the final screen only, so save it
Common questions
Is it possible to book an urgent appointment online?+
That is down to the practice. The page offers only the free times the practice has made available, and a request stays pending until someone confirms it. For anything urgent, phone the practice.
What does the booking form ask for?+
Your name, an email address if you wish and an optional note. Do not put sensitive medical details in the note. If you have questions about how the practice handles your information, ask the practice itself.
