How to book a doctor’s appointment online

Request a consultation on the practice’s booking page; the practice confirms the request afterwards.

Booking for clients

Booking a doctor’s appointment online means choosing the type of visit, the doctor and a free time on the practice’s own booking page, without waiting on the phone. The request you send is pending until the practice confirms it, so it helps to know how that works.

Open the practice’s booking link, which it may publish on its website or give you in a message. You will see the practice’s name and a list of services, each with a duration and, if the practice has set one, a price. Choose the visit you need, then pick a doctor or the option “Any available person”, if the practice offers it, and one of the free times. The calendar follows each doctor’s own schedule and the notice rules of the practice, so only bookable slots are shown.

Enter your name, an email address if you wish and an optional note. Keep the note short and practical, and avoid writing sensitive health details in it. When you send the request, the time is held for you with the status “pending”.

Confirmation is done by the practice’s team in their panel. Confirming or rejecting does not send you anything automatically, and customers receive neither emails nor reminders from 4appointments. Expect the practice to confirm by phone or message, and ask it how if it is not clear.

On the final screen you will see a link for cancelling or rescheduling. Save it, because it is not emailed to you. If you no longer need the slot, use that link so someone else can have it. A pending request that nobody handles is cancelled by the system about an hour after the requested time, without notice.

Points to remember

  • ✓The booking page is open day and night, but confirmation is done by the practice’s team
  • ✓You choose the service, the doctor and the time yourself
  • ✓The cancel or reschedule link is shown on the final screen only, so save it

Common questions

Can I book an urgent appointment online?+

It depends on the practice. The page offers only the free times the practice has made available, and a request stays pending until someone confirms it. For anything urgent, phone the practice.

Will I be reminded before the visit?+

Not by 4appointments, which sends no messages to customers. Note the date and time yourself, and ask the practice whether it contacts patients ahead of visits.
