How do you book a car service online?

Pick the job and a free time on the garage’s booking page; the garage confirms the request afterwards.

Booking as a client

Booking your car in online lets you choose the work you need and a free slot on the garage’s booking page, so there’s no ringing and waiting in a queue. The request is pending until the garage confirms it, and the garage will usually get in touch by phone or message.

Use the booking link the garage has given you, for instance on its website or in a text from the mechanic. The page lists the garage’s services, each with its own duration and price. Choose the job you need, such as a service, an oil change or diagnostics, depending on what the garage has listed.

Pick a mechanic or “Any available person”, then choose a day and one of the free times. The free times are worked out from the garage’s schedules and the duration of the job you chose, so you can’t take a time that’s already booked with the same mechanic.

Enter your name, an email address if you wish and an optional note. The form has no fields for the make, model or registration, and the garage’s team may not see your note when they look at the calendar, so give those details and a description of the problem when the garage contacts you.

Send the request. The booking is created as pending and the time is held. The garage confirms it from its panel, and 4appointments sends you no confirmation email or reminder. Save the change-or-cancel link from the final screen. Payment and any deposit for parts are arranged with the garage directly, as online payment isn’t available in the current plans. If nobody confirms, the pending request is cancelled about an hour after the requested time, so ring first if your car needs to be in on a certain day.

The essentials

  • ✓Save the cancel or reschedule link from the final screen

Common questions

Can I choose a particular mechanic?+

Yes, if the garage has set up its mechanics as separate providers. You can pick one, or choose “Any available person” if that option is switched on.

How will I know how long the job will take, and do I enter my car’s details?+

Each service has a duration set by the garage, and that’s the time the calendar blocks. If the work needs longer, the garage will tell you directly. The form has no dedicated fields for the car’s details, so mention them when the garage confirms, or ring ahead if the job depends on a specific model.
